Afghanistan, with Registration Number 4388 dated February 18, 2018. SSEOA works in the

fields of education, health, and livelihood in the remote regions of Afghanistan. SSEOA envisions creating educational opportunities for girls and women to grow, thrive, and prosper. SSEOA works to empower communities in Afghanistan through education, especially for girls, promotes peace through education, and conveys the importance of these activities all around the country. The team is spearheaded by an Executive Body comprising the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Program Director, Finance Manager, and Program Manager, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. At the helm of strategic governance stands SSEOA's Board of Directors, comprising five distinguished members renowned for their extensive experience working with the government and NGO sector.

Job Descriptions:

  Position Summary:

The Education Officer and in-Charge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of education programs in Takhar Province. This includes ensuring the quality of educational services, managing teaching staff, coordinating with local education authorities, and maintaining a conducive learning environment. The role demands a strong focus on curriculum implementation, teacher support, and student welfare, ensuring that educational objectives are met in alignment with organizational standards and policies

Responsibilities:

Educational Program Management:

  • Oversee the establishment and operation of CBE classes across designated areas, ensuring they meet the educational needs of young children.
  • Develop and implement work plans, schedules, and strategies for early childhood education programs.
  • Ensure that CBE classes adhere to the national curriculum and meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education.
  • Monitor and support teaching staff to ensure effective lesson delivery and adherence to best practices.
  • Address and resolve social issues by consulting with local Shura, School Management Shura, District Education Director, and other relevant bodies, taking security measures as needed.
  • Review and keep track of program documents including action plans, weekly reports, attendance, lesson plans, and class discipline.

Staff Supervision and Capacity Building:

  • Ensure regular supervision of field staff, including community mobilizers and CBE teachers, and report to the Program Manager.
  • Mentor teachers, providing guidance on instructional methods, classroom management, and student assessment.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance teacher skills and knowledge.
  • Student Welfare and Learning Environment:
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students, particularly marginalized groups.
  • Manage student behavioral issues in collaboration with teachers, parents, and community leaders.
  • Coordination with Education Authorities:
  • Regularly coordinate with PEDs and DEDs to align program activities with provincial and district educational strategies.
  • Participate in meetings with PEDs and DEDs to discuss program progress and challenges.
  • Liaise with local education authorities, school management committees, and community leaders to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Conduct classroom observations and assessments to monitor education quality.
  • Prepare and submit reports on educational activities, student progress, and teacher performance to the Regional Education Coordinator.

Resource Management:

  • Manage the allocation and utilization of educational resources, including textbooks and teaching materials.
  • Ensure educational facilities and equipment are well-maintained and meet safety standards.

Community Engagement:

  • Engage with community leaders, parents, and local stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of education and support for CBE programs.
  • Support the formation and operation of parent-teacher associations (PTAs) and integrate community feedback into the program.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of CBE activities, including student enrollment, teacher performance, and program outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on program activities, challenges, and achievements for the Education Program Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Document and share best practices, success stories, and lessons learned from CBE implementation.

Job Requirements:

Qualification:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in an educational management role, preferably within a school or community-based education program.
  • Strong knowledge of the Afghan education system, including curriculum and teaching standards.
  • Experience in teacher supervision, classroom management, and student assessment.
  • Proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto; knowledge of English is an asset.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in rural or conflict-affected areas.
  • Understanding of child protection policies and inclusive education practices.

Work Conditions:

  • Based in Takhar Province with regular visits to schools and education centers within the district.
  • May require working beyond regular hours to meet program deadlines or handle emergencies.
