Organization for Promotion of health & Agriculture Afghanistan (OPHAA is a non – governmental and nonpolitical national NGO, established in as a response to the emerging needs of Afghan people.

OPHAA is working for the fields health including Drug Prevention, Motivational Counseling, Detoxification, Treatment, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, Life Skill, Vocational Training, Aftercare, Follow up and Relapse Prevention, Harm Reduction & HIV/AIDS Prevention for Drug Addicts (Children, Female and Male Adolescent, Female and Male), Human Right, Capacity Building for different group of Afghan civil society including Teacher, Formers, and school students in different province of Afghanistan.

The aforesaid services provided for Afghan especially of marginalized population through

OPHAA experienced and qualified personnel in many province such as Paktika, Kundoz,

Ghazni, Kabul, Badakhshan, Herat, Balkh, Takhar, Bamyan, Jawizjan, Farah and Nimroz. 

Job Descriptions:

  • Gender Officer is to promote and ensure the integration of gender equality and gender mainstreaming across all of the organization’s projects, programs, and operations. The officer will contribute to the development of gender-sensitive policies and practices and ensure that all activities reflect the organization’s commitment to gender equity.

 

3. Key Responsibilities

  1. Gender Mainstreaming
    • Ensure that gender perspectives are incorporated into all phases of project/program development and implementation.
    • Conduct gender analysis and impact assessments to identify gender gaps and propose solutions.
    • Provide technical support and advice to program staff to ensure gender equality is embedded in all program activities.
  2. Policy Development and Implementation
    • Assist in the development of gender-responsive policies, guidelines, and frameworks.
    • Monitor and ensure the effective implementation of gender policies at all levels.
  3. Capacity Building and Training
    • Develop and deliver training sessions on gender awareness, gender sensitivity, and gender-responsive programming to staff and partners.
    • Support staff in understanding gender equality principles and implementing them in their work.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
    • Work closely with the M&E team to incorporate gender indicators in project monitoring frameworks.
    • Ensure that data collection and reporting processes are gender-disaggregated and reflect gender-specific impacts.
  5. Advocacy and Communication
    • Lead initiatives to raise awareness on gender equality both within the organization and among external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with communication teams to produce gender-sensitive content for campaigns and materials.
  6. Partnership and Collaboration
    • Liaise with local and international partners, including government bodies, NGOs, and civil society organizations, to coordinate gender equality efforts.
    • Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in gender equality, and integrate these into the organization’s practices.

Job Requirements:

·  Education:
A degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or related fields.

•Graduate level in BBA degree (Essential)

·  Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, policy development, and program implementation.

·  Skills:

  • Strong understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment issues.
  • Experience in conducting gender analysis and implementing gender-sensitive programs.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant international frameworks (e.g., CEDAW, SDGs).
  • Communication skills and strong local language correspondence skills. Particularly in fluency in English, Dari, and Pashtu, speaking /writing skills are required.
  • Ability to write logical, clear, and concise reports.
  • Able to work overtime or holidays required by the supervisor or program need, or any other tasks which need to be completed as per organization need basis to related department.
