Job Descriptions:

  1. Organize and oversee the food distribution process at the district level.
  2. Supervise the project team at the district level to complete tasks according to the project timeframe. 
  3. Oversee community and household-level beneficiary identification surveys at the district level and report to the line manager.
  4. Host team meetings as necessary to facilitate projects' problem solve and report results to the line manager.
  5. Complete and submit activity and distribution reports on time requested.
  6. Ensure good coordination with other staff working on the project.
  7. Make sure that all commodities entrusted to WASSA are properly accounted for when they arrive at distribution centers (Food Distribution Points/FDP) at the district level.
  8. Evaluate all approaches to achieve for goods arriving at distribution centers. Ascertain that the commodities are of the correct quantity and quality as specified on the waybill. Record all quantities delivered short (missing), quantities lost in transit, and damaged quantities as soon as possible (In the field and FDP). All observations must be documented as soon as possible.
  9. During offloading, commodities must be carefully counted.
  10. Commodities must be stacked in an organized manner, by commodity type, at the distribution center to facilitate easy distribution.
  11. Take an active role in beneficiary registration and verification to ensure that the process is fair.
  12. Organize and supervise the distribution of food items in the field and FDPs.
  13. Commodities must be properly stacked on plastic sheeting at the distribution center.
  14. To ensure smooth distribution and flow of beneficiaries, ensure that the distribution center is properly organized and secured with ropes and crowd control measures.
  15. Responsible for ensuring that all necessary distribution equipment, such as forms, ropes, banners, plastic sheets, measuring devices, and so on, is available at the distribution center.
  16. Supervise the loading of leftover food after distributions. Make sure a waybill is ready for the food to be returned to the warehouse.
  17. Ensure that all tally documents and beneficiary lists are properly completed and returned to the office for safe storage.
  18. Ensure accurate accounting of all commodities received and distributed at each center.
  19. Communicate and coordinate with the other project teams (Cash & Food)
  20. Coordinate with logistics Officer in logistics planning for the District ensuring the timely arrival of materials, safe storage of assets/materials, and clear up-to-date record keeping.
  21. Assist in payments to daily Laborers and offloading laborers.
  22. Ensure all financial documents related to daily laborers and offloading laborers are completed in a timely and correct manner.
  23. In coordination with the management team develop and maintain relationships with local authorities and partners on-site ensuring good co-operation and partnership.
  24. Maintain good relationships and coordination with communities and de facto including communications related to project activities timelines, community contribution, and community agreements.
  25. Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Prospective candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Administration, Economics and management, or a related field.
  • Candidates must also have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in food distribution and WFP projects is required.
  • Able to work under heavy pressure situations
  • Able to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work on time
  • The ability to speak in local languages (Dari and Pashto) and English.
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Computer skills required particularly Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to various districts in the respective provinces
