Job Summary

The Geologist identifies and evaluates high-potential oil and gas areas through geological surveys, data analysis, and exploration projects. They develop maps, models, and reports to support reservoir characterization, drilling operations, and production optimization. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to field development plans, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Identify areas that have the highest potential for oil and gas accumulation and determine the most promising locations for exploration and drilling.

2.    Conducting geological surveys, analyzing data from oil exploration projects, and making recommendations for drilling locations.

3.    By using advanced technologies and their expertise, they create detailed maps and reports that guide engineers and drilling teams in their operations.

4.   Must be able to create geological drilling programs for new wells and geological designs for workover operations.

5.    Analyzing Geological Data (Analyze various types of geological data, including seismic surveys, well logs, and core samples).

6.    Develop 3D static geo-cellular models by integrating geological, geophysical, petro physical, and production data.

7.    Interpret isopach, isochore, and structure maps, to support reservoir characterization.

8.    Collaborate with reservoir engineering teams to achieve successful history-matched dynamic simulations and optimize production.

9.    Understand the properties and characteristics of rock formations, the presence of hydrocarbons, and the potential of reservoirs.

10. Estimate the size, quality, and productivity of petroleum reserves, enabling informed decision-making for drilling operations.

11. Contributed to well proposals, Field Development Plans (FDP), and wellbore trajectory planning, ensuring accurate geological input to optimize drilling techniques.

12. Evaluate the potential risks of drilling activities and develop strategies for environmental protection.

13. Monitored drilling operations by reviewing assembly, parameters, and geological logging, offering technical support to field and drilling teams.

14. Provided technical coaching to junior geoscientists and prepared final well reports for future reference.

15. Should stay informed about industry trends, research findings, and technological innovations that can enhance the work and contribute to the success of the organizations.

16. In summary, the petroleum geologist is responsible for finding and mapping petroleum deposits, analyzing geological data, collaborating with engineers and geoscientists, assessing environmental impacts, and keeping updated with industry developments. Their expertise and skills are crucial for the success of oil and gas exploration and extraction activities.

1- Candidates with a master’s degree or higher in Geology is preferred.

2- Candidates must have at least 5 years of working Experience as petroleum Geologist.

3- Must have Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

4- Strong communication and teamwork skills, and an understanding of drilling and extraction techniques.
