Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Youth Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring youth development programs to ensure the timely and quality delivery of project activities in compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. The position provides technical guidance and supervision to project staff, coordinates with government authorities, donors, UN agencies, and community stakeholders, and supports effective partnership building. The Youth Coordinator is also responsible for work planning, reporting, monitoring project progress, ensuring quality standards, and promoting meaningful youth engagement, empowerment, and inclusion across all project interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:   

·       Lead the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of youth development activities in accordance with approved work plans, project objectives, and donor requirements.

·       Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to youth support centers staff to ensure the quality and timely implementation of activities.

·       Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans for youth support centres and monitor progress against project targets and indicators.

·       Coordinate with government authorities, implementing partners, educational institutions, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and facilitate project implementation.

·       Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, safeguarding standards, and relevant national laws throughout project implementation.

·       Monitor project performance, identify implementation challenges, develop mitigation measures, and ensure timely corrective actions.

·       Prepare high-quality narrative reports, progress updates, success stories, lessons learned, and other project documentation.

·       Support the design, organization, and facilitation of youth trainings, workshops, awareness campaigns, community events, and capacity-building initiatives.

·       Promote meaningful youth participation, leadership, inclusion, gender equality, disability inclusion, and protection mainstreaming across all project activities.

·       Conduct regular field monitoring visits from YSCs to assess implementation quality, provide technical support, and ensure accountability.

·       Maintain effective coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), finance, procurement, and human resources teams to support efficient project implementation.

·       Build and maintain strong partnerships with local communities and relevant stakeholders to enhance project sustainability and impact.

  •          Perform other tasks assigned by the Project Manager or senior management.

Job Requirements

Qualification:

·       Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience.

·        

Experience:

·       Experience in managing humanitarian or development projects, with a focus on youth development, migration, ,  protection, or emergency response.

·       Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, and monitoring, particularly in disaster or conflict-affected settings.

·       Expertise in budget management, compliance, and working with procurement, finance, and HR teams.

·       strong experience in engaging with stakeholders, including local authorities, INGOs, and UN agencies.

·       Prior experience in team supervision, capacity building, and fostering professional relationships.

·       Familiarity with community-based approaches, including beneficiary selection, accountability mechanisms, and safeguarding practices.

·       Have relative experience working with reporting and data collection tools such as Kobo, Survey Monkey, Google forms etc. 

Skills and Abilities:

·       Strong understanding of local contexts, including cultural and political dynamics in Afghanistan.

·       Proficiency in English, Dari and Pashto. Proficiency in other languages will be considered a plus point.

·       Strong reporting, presentation, training facilitation, and budgeting skills.

·       Strong inter-personal and communication skills, ability to work under stressful conditions, and able to meet tight deadlines.
