Job Descriptions:

 

  1. CONTEXT

The Women and Girls Empowerment Project is funded by UNICEF and implemented in The Western Region (Herat, Farah and Badqhis provinces). The primary purpose of the program in Afghanistan is to reduce the violence and harmful practices against women and girls.

It aims at targeting the most at-risk groups, to accelerate efforts toward the elimination of violence and harmful practices. the WGE in Afghanistan will bring women and girls, including those with intersecting forms of discrimination and marginalization, to the center of the interventions, recognizing that the empowerment of women and girls, and their unique experiences and solutions they bring based on their intersectional identities, is the key to design and implement a program that responds to the needs and priorities of women and girls of Afghanistan in all their diversity.

  1. OBJECTIVES

The project needs to recruit a Facilitator and Team Leader who is a professional in charge of guiding, monitoring, and leading an entire group. He is responsible for motivating their teammates as well as inspiring positive communication within them so that they can work together toward achieving goals. he provides overall technical, and organizational support and plays a facilitation role in the communities he is assigned, including technology and best practices, awareness creation and linkages, and behavioral change through education, information, and communication. he supports people’s empowerment, collective action, and solidarity. Facilitates and encourages the active participation of and networking between individuals and communities in recognizing problems, identifying solutions, and implementing project activities related to the identified solutions.

 

  1. RESULTS/OUTPUTS OF WORK

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the Facilitator and Team Leader will work on the following tasks to coordinate the implementation of the project:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the team.
  • Motivating the team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Developing and implementing a timeline to achieve targets.
  • Mobilize the village community to identify problems and possible interventions as well as facilitate their participation in project ownership
  • Coordinate (plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate) strategic communication programs for both key project messages and behavior change necessary as technical support to the community-based committee, to strengthen the overall performance of the project
  • Monitoring and evaluation of progress within the community
  • Promote a high level of collaboration, communication, and cooperation with governments and other stakeholders and actors in the community
  • Facilitate sessions on hygiene promotion healthcare and life skill education for the targeted community.
  • Facilitate life-skill training for the targeted community.
  • Assist to engage the community and local authorities on child protection issues.
  • Provide subsistence allowance will be provided to the targeted community.
  • Be able to Conduct awareness training and conduct information campaigns on the field according to the community knowledge level.
  • Any other official-related tasks may assign to him/her.
  • S/he is responsible to Report regularly on project activities and update the progress of project implementation.
  • Focuses on impact and result for the client
  • Approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
  • Builds strong relationships with clients and external actors
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
  • Any other relevant duties assigned by the project manager.

 

4. METHODOLOGY

The facilitators will be supervised by the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will be a confident public speaker and a devoted educator who is up-to-date on the latest tools and resources needed to improve target audience training and performance.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Community Health, Social Works, Agric and Rural Development, Sociology, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of previous experience as a facilitator, or related position
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Must possess and apply depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise to meet job demands
  • Possess the ability and technical knowledge to use information technology effectively as a tool and a resource
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully conduct research and manage projects in a remote rural location with minimum supervision
  • Excellent writing and oral skills in English are a fundamental requirement. Fluency in the local language is highly desirable.
