The electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining power systems, ensures that systems are installed properly and running efficiently by regularly monitoring their operation and making necessary repairs or upgrades.

Job Requirements:

• responsible for designing and supervising the installation of energy systems, troubleshooting existing systems, and providing technical support.
• have a strong understanding of energy systems, including electrical and mechanical components, and experience with the installation and maintenance of such systems Design,
• supervise the installation, maintain, and monitor energy systems
• Identify potential energy applications in buildings and other environments
• Conduct site assessments and make recommendations on energy feasibility
• Create technical drawings and design documents for energy systems
• Ensure energy systems are compliant with relevant legislation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of tree-year experience working on emergency response and development programming with an international NGO or governmental organizations
• Knowledge of appropriate engineering and construction norms for Afghanistan
• Knowledge of construction materials locally available in the field
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to build good relations both internally and externally
• Experience in the design and delivery of training or capacity building program
• Physically able to spend the long periods of time in the field
• Organizational acumen and cultural sensitivity; and Excellent oral and written English
• Must be comfortable in being a pro-active member of the senior management team
• Must be a leader who seeks to identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions to solve them
• Must be able to function effectively in a loosely structured but complex work environment that is constantly and rapidly changing as a result of project development in all sectors
• In-depth knowledge and experience in the solar technologies, preferably, its implementation with hybrid (Solar-conventional) in grid-connected electrification systems;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

• Strong technical skills in correlating drawing and specifications of works in the BoQ.
• Professional manner in dealing with community members and co-workers.
• Strong listening skills combined with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Understanding of basics on Intranet usage and protocols

Key Working Relationships:  

Internal:  Program Manager, Senior Project Officers, Field Officers, Head of Office, Head of Programming, Administrative/Support staff

External: Project Participants, partner’s team lead, Community Leaders and other Community Members, relevant working groups, other NGOs and other stakeholders.

Required Languages:

Fluent in Dari or Pashto and professional working fluent in English.

Travel – The position will be based at SGC office with up to 80% travel to project communities and other SGC sub-offices. Occasional travel to other SGC offices in Afghanistan for workshops and trainings may also be required. (Just males)
